Eugene "Gene" Hodge
Gene consults at all levels of an organization from the boardroom to entry-level staff. He understands that our most precious resource, people, must be personally developed to fully maximize effectiveness at work. Over the past 20 years, Gene has created a unique methodology that focuses on integrating individual skills and abilities utilized to perform work-related tasks with computer technology that motivates individuals and produces a happy, holistic worker, who enjoys their work. He has delivered information technology training programs aimed at individuals obtaining computer competencies, for CIGNA Corporation, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston and Pitney Bowes. Additionally, he has taught computer and information technology courses at Quinnipiac University (QU), University of New Haven and Roxbury Community College. Gene has also presented seminars to a wide variety of business, professional and educational organizations including 'training concepts' in China, Thailand and national training conferences. Gene’s primary passion is his ‘Job Readiness & Computer Literacy Training Program’ that he personally developed and is in the process of implementing across the country. This innovative program enables people to find employment doing what they enjoy doing. He has implemented this and other programs for agencies such as the Connecticut Department of Labor and Regional Workforce Development Board, Opportunities Industrialization Centers (OIC), the Urban League, and the Pinellas Veterans Administration. Additionally, Gene has implemented his program at the University of Hartford, University of New Haven, Quinnipiac University, Gateway Community-Technical College, and Housatonic Community-Technical College (all in Connecticut), and is currently working with State Representatives to implement the program in Florida. To date, Gene’s programs have enabled over 800 individuals seeking employment to gain enjoyable employment and become proficient in productivity, workplace literacy, job seeking, personal development, and computer literacy. He has presented ‘Career Transition Workshops’ and job counseling to over 1500 individuals in out-placement for companies such as: Right Management Associates, Lee Hecht Harrison, Drake Beam Morin, General Electric, Unisys, Union Carbide, Frito Lay, Electric Boat, the Tampa Workforce Alliance and the Transitioning Professionals of Tampa Bay. Since relocating to Florida in 2001, Gene has taught for St. Petersburg College, Pinellas Technical Education Centers (PTEC), Baywinds Learning Centers, and established a ‘Family Literacy’ program for Hillsborough Community College. He also provides computer and job seeking training to seniors, veterans, and unemployed individuals. Gene earned his A.S. degree in Data Processing from Springfield Technical Institute, B.S. degree in computer science from the University of Massachusetts, Masters in Education from Cambridge College, and teacher certificate from Westfield State College. He is also certified to teach computer related courses in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Florida. Through his companies, Gene currently offers professional development seminars and workshops, and provides computer tutoring in a number of areas.
